shibbitz what?

A bit of Randomness from Christopher Lincoln tonight:

1. Vitamins Rule!

2. Bought another instant classic of CD yesterday. The Road We're On from Sonny Landreth. As it turns out, this is going to be an unprecedented time for me as far as slide guitar goes. First, I happened on the Roy Rogers CD, now Sonny, and on March 25 the brand-spankin' new George Thorogood & The Destroyers disc. Better enjoy it, an alignment of the stars like this has never happened before and probably won't again.

3. Lordy but my job is mind-numbing.

4. Listened to most of the State of the Union last night. Good grief. I like Bush, I do, but damn if I know why. Well, yes, I do. He has the world believing he's some kind of buffoon when he's really a very intelligent, mischievous fucker. But most of his stated ideas last night were disgustipating. Fuck faith-based initiatives, fuck money for junkies, fuck money for AIDS/HIV victims in Africa (or anywhere else for that matter).

However, give credit where credit is due. Instant tax cuts - bring'em on. He's on the right track there, but any tax is theft, pure and simple. Also, hydrogen-fueled cars? Hell yes. Where he goes wrong there is placing the onus on the government to back this and push it where it needs to go. Sorry, that's the job of the private sector.

Now here's all I have to say about the situation in Iraq:
Little Jim pulls out a bottle of his favorite liquor from the cabinet. It hasn't even been opened yet. An hour and a half later, the bottle is empty and Little Jimmy is toasted beyond belief. He decides to go for a drive. He gets in his car and tools around town for maybe three hours before pulling back in his driveway. Little Jimmy could very well have hurt someone during his drive, but he didn't. Was his behaviour reckless? For sure! A crime? No.
You cannot rightly punish someone for something that he hasn't done, but could do or might do. I've got several dirty knives down in the dishwasher. I could very well take one and kill my neighbors after I finish this post. Better arrest me. As a bonus point: you especially cannot punish someone for whom you are not responsible for punishing.

5. Loons!

it's oh so quiet

nothin' to talk about tonight. everything's calm and quiet and peaceful here in the Land of Lincoln. pretty soon it'll be lights out, nighty-night.

I find myself with nothing but time tonight and feel zero inspiration. I was all set to begin testing a new layout for BadTown tonight, but due to technical difficulties with my host, that ain't gonna be happening. But I can at least tell you what I'm gonna do.

When I began with my two domains back in late October/early November, I wanted to showcase my design capabilities while remaining absolutely true to my vision for each site. What I mean is, I wasn't going to go fill the sites with gratuitous shit just to show that I could. What I decided to do was make this site fully CSS 1 and 2, no java for design purposes (lo, java is employed for the pop-up comments via movabletype). BadTown, on the other hand, was to be a more old school site, little to no CSS, but toss in a heaping helping of java for design. As you might notice, or might not, that's exactly what I did.

My idea was that if I ever found myself in a position to gain employment for my web skills, I would be able to show prospective employers that I can do both (with CSS definitely being my strong suit). Since I now realize, but should have realized much earlier, I'm not going to find a job as a web designer.

So I'm going to convert BadTown into a fully CSS site like this one. Since its scope is much, MUCH larger than this one, it's going to be a nice task to undertake. Maybe two weekends worth of fun (no sarcasm here, I love it!).

In lieu of the full conversion, though, I was able to make some changes. I opted out of the flash splash screen for awhile, so when the site loads up it goes straight to the Nav page. Further, I jiffied off a quick and easy new flash ad for the new GT album. In addition, I slipped the mp3 of John Lee Hooker's "Ride Til I Die" into a 5x5 black static flash and hunkered that puppy down into the Nav page as well. Nifty. I could've spent more time on it and made it even cooler, but I'm AOK with the way it is now. Looks and sounds nice. Might take a minute to load with a modem, but fuck'em. It's not like anybody is visiting anyway.

And why isn't anyone visiting? Hmmm. Let's see:

1. Stupid Yahoo! directory. When you do a search for GT&D on yahoo, the results bring up a directory listing for them and then a long list of web matches. Well, I'm listed directly underneath the official site in the directory listing, but who the fuck clicks there to find me? And to make matters worse, I'm not listed anywhere in the web matches! WTF??

2. Stupid Google. Yes, it's there. But it's wayyyyyyyyyyy the fuck down on the list. When the site was on geocities and insightbb, it was listed page one and page two, but now that the domain is actually DELAWAREDESTROYERS.COM, I'm on page fifteen. WTF??? I know, I know. Give it time. But I've gotten the link up from several mid-range music sites, so that should help. But damn!

3. The Capitol Records Message Board group. I was getting some nice traffic from those folks. Since I severed ties with the group last month, hits have fallen dramatically. I'll accept that, though. 90% of the folks on that board are inbred neanderthal fucks. They pissed me off one too many times. I just don't need the hassle of wading through the shit to find the diamonds. Not worth it.

That all being said, this is all great fun. I love the net. I love designing. I love writing and researching and everything else involved. It's my job to make it. If no one ever sees, it's still ok by me. I know what I've done. And if I ever needed to confirm my status as GT fan #1, all I have to do is say, "delawaredestroyers.com, go there motherfuckers."

howdy do!?

finally got the site up and running again. not to say it was ever broken, but now it makes more sense and is even consistent! There's something to strive for as a webmaster, huh?

Have you ever had a smoke that, even though you've been smoking for years, fucks you up?

Today I went outside in the cold Arctic air to enjoy a 'rette about 3:15. I stood relatively motionless on the sidewalk, taking about five minutes to smoke. When finished, I tossed the butt into the can and began to walk back inside. Much to my dismay, I could barely walk! I had my buzz on for sure, crazy buzz! Lightheaded, yes a bit dizzy, but overall feeling very very very nice.

What the fuck? Do you think for every 1000 cigarettes the folks at the tobacco company give us a bonus cigarette?

Everyone, this is Alka Nanda...

alka.jpg

For those of you in the know, I've had a certain email address since I got online in 1995. That address contains the word "fountainhead", the name of my favorite book. So there I was, sitting at home one day checking my email when I noticed in my inbox a letter from Alka Nanda. I didn't know anyone by that name, but being bored I opened the letter. As it turns out, Alka, who lives and goes to school in India, had read The Fountainhead and just for giggles shot off an email to my address to see if it even existed and to talk to whoever might have it.

We are now in our fifth year of sporadically being pen pals, of a kind. In this time, we've talked about all kinds of things, none of them failing to be interesting and enjoyable. I've learned alot from her, and maybe she's learned a few things from me.

Just wanted to post her pic here and tell you about her because she said I wouldn't do it. Well, I did!

What is this? Three days in a row? Do I have a fever?

Anyway, just wanted to take a second to let anyone know that yes, I know the archives page is still on the old style, and besides, it's just all fuckered up.

I am giving it some attention now. Trying to figure out what to do with it. I'm gonna take a look-see around at some fellow bloggers' sites and see what they do and maybe take a nod from them.

Until then, maybe just don't go there if you're looking for consistency!

Roy Rogers is unbelievable. His latest album, Slideways gives me shivers from start to finish. He is now added to the pantheon of the best slide guitarists of all time, up there with the baddest, Mr. Thorogood, and Dave Hole and Sonny Landreth. Damn!

Another disc that is vying for time in the CD player with Slideways is Fiona Apple's When The Pawn.... Not only is she beautiful, she's a wordsmith and a craftsman. Depth of emotion, honest to the core.

Now, how does everyone like the color-scheme? I hope you like it, 'cause I LOVE it. It is more true to me. It's my personality in color.

female artists

|

A few new CD's this weekend had made me ponder my favorite female artists. Not sure if I can come up with ten, but let's see...

10. Mandy Moore

9. Kylie Minogue

8. Michelle Branch

7. Avril Lavigne

6. Christina Aguilera

5. Robyn Carlson

4. Missy Elliott

3. Celine Dion

2. Fiona Apple

1. Stevie Nicks

Hey! I did it!
Take note, I've chosen them because I like the music they make, not for their looks, although some are hot as hell. But if looks were all I cared about, I'd have thrown Mrs. Gavin Rossdale on there.

So, once again I am the best at something. There's a shocker.

However, I have made up my mind to build from this success. This is only the beginning. I have little time to spare, so I must use this to make for myself an opportunity to be the best at something that will mean something to me - either psychologically or financially.

I must be the best at playing the game, a game I have always refused to play.

I find bathtime quite exhilerating!

Anytime I'm able to allow my penis to float in water I'll do it. Bathing, swimming, doing the dishes...

Speaking of penises, I believe everyone should have a good, healthy relationship with his/her own genitalia. Learn to listen to the genitalia! Know the signals! Follow your genitalia wherever they might lead you! Do not EVER punish your genitalia. They just might punish you back. And remember the golden rule: a clean genital that smells nice and works properly is more valuable than anything else you have. Be good to your yourself!

YO!YO!

Yeah, not sure why I've felt compelled to toss pics of myself in here. Something to do. This one is from earlier this year, but I like it. It captures me in my element, my spot. What you see there is what it's always like here...me in my really old, delapidated chair that I won't give up for anything, a stack of CDs (notice eminem is on top? hmmm...), half-full ashtray, cups everywhere, unpaid bills sitting around, my super-pissed-off Cardinal peeping its head up over the Biggie Drinks, the trusty bottle of Windex for cleaning my monitor (my cats are always trying to grab the mouse pointer from off the screen and leave nose prints everywhere), and what am I doing? Writing.

It's good to be surrounded by the things you like. Like I am right now. It's also important. Sure, one can maintain identity without anything physical, but when you can extend that identity to include everything in your purview, well, it just helps. Should you ever forget.

I'm working tomorrow. I mean today, later. Wish I could sleep. Glad for the extra moolah.

I realize it's been kinda quiet here for the past little while. I'll try to remedy that on Sunday, as I'll have a bit of spare time. And if I don't sleep all day.

BTW, even though I'm all sleep-deprived and scruffy-faced, I'm still one handsome devil, ain't I?

Here's an idea for the U.S. to ponder::leave all other countries the fuck alone.

Iraq? Leave them the fuck alone.

North Korea? Leave them the fuck alone.

It's called laissez-faire. Open a book, learn.

looking around recently, there are about four billion blog sites on the net...everybody linking to everybody else, yapping up a storm, and no one giving a shit. what a waste of time and space and effort and thought.

LincolnBlog::100% Link Free - 100% Lincoln

some might wonder why a site like this --- e g o c e n t r i c i t y -- wouldn't want it's name and it's link everywhere, why it wouldn't get all caught up in the blog community nonsense. come on. think about it.

It was with great eagerness that I went to see the movie Drumline . I was not disappointed. And in addition to the drumming, the movie also boasts newcomer Zoe Saldana. Meow.

In other news, I was visited for the first time in several years by the IPU. I was first introduced to this magnificent creature in a Yahoo! chat room in the year of 1998. Over the years I lost my faith, but today I found my way back.

And to all my female readers, I will ask of you only this.

Goodnight, and sleep tight all you lonesome souls.
